NEW CLERGY MEMBER APPOINTED TO TRC

The parliament members have elected Bishop Aimé Joseph KIMARARUNGU, currently Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Gitega to be the Vice-President of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (CVR).

Bishop Aimé Joseph has been elected to take over the position that was occupied by Rev Pastor Noé Clément NINZIZA. The nomination of Bishop Aimé Joseph is the third nomination of a clergy member from the Anglican Church of Burundi after the Archbishop Emeritus Bernard NTAHOTURI and Rev Noé Clément appointed to contribute to the mission of this commission in charge of investigating and establishing the truth about serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed until 2008, the date of the end of the belligerence.
